At that time, the territory included Kitengure Center, Rubingo Center, Rwengwe Center, Nyarubungo Center, and Omukashanda Center, forming one Zone of Rubindi Parish with the Zonal Headquarters at Nyarubungo Center. The land where the parish is located today was given to the Catholic Church by the Ankore Kingdom. The land was very big until one family moved from Kakara to the area and deceived the faithful to exchange a large portion of the land for a Church building, which was never built. The Church now utilizes the part that remained.

Future Plans and Projects

  • St. Charles Lwanga Omukashanda Parish hopes to be given all the Centers that form the Zone, namely: Kitengure Center, Rubingo Center, Rwengwe Center.
  • Katsikizi Center is located in Mbarara District but was given to Rwentunda Parish in Sheema District, making collaboration difficult. The territory was requested from the Archbishop to be added to St. Charles Lwanga Omukashanda Parish.
  • The parish started with a project of building a Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a Grotto, which is now completed. The current project is the construction of offices and accommodation for priests at St. Charles Lwanga Omukashanda Parish, with the over site concrete just completed.
