Communities and Ministries
There are five Franciscan priests and one Brother serving in three communities within the Archdiocese:
- Kakoba Community: Located in Mbarara City, this community also houses the novitiate where new members are trained.
- Rushooka Parish Community: Situated in Ntungamo District, this community is deeply involved in developmental programs, including harnessing gravity water and teaching new farming techniques. They also manage Rushooka Parish, contributing significantly to the spiritual and social upliftment of the area.
- Nyakaguruka Centre Community: Located about 26 kilometers from Nyamitanga Cathedral on the route to Kabale, this new community is intended to be a formation center and will assist in establishing a new parish to serve the local population.
Lay Franciscan Communities
The Franciscans have attracted many lay Christians to join the Third Order of St. Francis, with five secular communities in the Archdiocese. Members commit to living the Franciscan rule of life according to the Third Order.
